What is Reiki?
The Tibetans have practised Reiki for hundreds of years. It is an ancient art of hands on healing.
Rei - is the Universal Life Energy that is the spark in every atom of the Universe. It orders nature and is
all knowing.
Ki - (also called "Chi" in Chinese & "Prana" in Sanskrit) is our Vital Life Force. This is the non-physical
energy that animates all living things.
Reiki is the coming together of these two energies, a joining
together of the Universal and the Personal. Everyone can have the
ability to channel Reiki energy. This ability is passed on during a
Reiki initiation/attunement and once learned is never lost.
How Does Reiki Work?
The free and balanced flow of Ki is the cause of good health.
Ki flows within the physical body through pathways called meridians and around us in a field of energy called the aura. Ki nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital function.
A full Reiki treatment usually lasts an hour. It differs from massage as the recipient remains fully clothed, it will even work through a plaster cast. It does not require any manipulation of tissue or muscle. The Reiki practitioner simply places his/her hands on different parts of the body, usually beginning at the head.
During a Reiki treatment it is common for the recipient to experience such sensations as warmth flowing from the practitioner's hands and most people report entering a very deep state of relaxation. Those who are familiar with meditation say they enter a deep meditative state, the mind calms the breathing slows down and they experience a feeling of well being.
A one hour session of Reiki is equal to 4 hours sleep, this fact alone makes it one of the most effective natural stress relievers we know of and regular use of Reiki leads to an increase in general vitality and well-being and a sense of inner peace.
How Do You Learn Reiki?
Level One
First degree Reiki is known as the physical level. It
brings us into harmony with our physical body, the environment, other
people and animals.
The one-day workshop will cover:
* Level one initiation/attunement,
* Chakra balancing,
* The Chakra System as a means of growth
* The hand positions for the treatment of self and others.
Level Two
Second degree Reiki is known as the mental/emotional
level. It helps us to build a relationship with, and integrate, our
inner world of thoughts, beliefs and emotions. It also assists us in
giving expression to our intuition in our daily life.
The one-day workshop will cover:
* Level two initiation/attunement
* Reiki symbols
* Distant healing
* Aura cleansing
* A brief introduction to meditation.
Level Three
Third degree Reiki is known as the spiritual level. It
awakens within us an awareness of life, which cannot be experienced by
our five senses. Receiving and using the Master symbol helps us to
consciously connect us to the Universal energy.
The one-day workshop will cover:
Master symbols
Meditation.
Using sound and movement in treatments
Using a pendulum
Reiki Master Teacher Workshop
During this workshop students
are taught how to initiate/attune others into all levels of Reiki. It is
for people who want to share Reiki, in a new way, with others and can
be done anytime after Level Three. In initiating others to Reiki we gain
insights to the power of Reiki and we learn more about ourselves on all
levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
This one-day workshop will cover:
* How to perform level one, two and three initiations
* The use of sound and crystals in healing
Reiki Practice Evenings
These evenings are run for Reiki practitioners trained by our college principal Christine Courtney.
They are designed to help people explore the use of Reiki.
They are held every 4-6 weeks and the evening lasts for 2.5 hours during which time everyone gets to give and receive Reiki.
