News and Events

Dear Members,

Without any prejudice to what other associations are saying here is our view on current situation with COVID-19 lockdown and getting back to work.

The government is doing the best they can to stop spreading of the virus. They have protocols and ‘Road Map' in place to follow in order to stop the disease.

Asking them to speed-up this regulation would be just reckless if you care for your own health and the others.

"Self-care and how to implement simple daily rituals for better life."

My name is Maureen Fynes I am the owner of MF Wellness School of Reflexology and Holistic therapies. I am on a mission is to get people proactive about their health and wellbeing. Many people constantly feel fatigued, lack energy, experience a mid- afternoon energy slumps, wake up feeling exhausted, have, irregular sleep patterns, regular colds and flus etc etc. The truth is it doesn't have to be that way.
I think of myself primarily as a reflexologist but also as a health coach. As a health coach I have facilitated so many people to implement a self- care plan that works with where they are in their life right now. I believe self-care is the corner stone to good health and to living a happy fulfilled life.

At the upcoming symposium I would like to share a broad outline of that plan and also share with you some really simple strategies to ensure that self-care becomes your number one priority and also show you how to implement simple daily rituals that will help you thrive and live your best life.

Our health is truly our wealth and with current statistics predicting that 1 in 6 of us will have a serious illness by the time we are in our sixties it has never being more important to look at our lifestyle and make sure that our lifestyle habits are serving us and not having a detrimental effect on our health and well-being.
To your very best health and wellness

"Interpreting the Language of Illness for Reflex Therapists"

Hello, I'm Lee Anthony Taylor and I am the Principal of the Academy of Effective Reflexology as well as the Founder of Coronal Zone Reflex Therapy.

My journey started when I was ‘press-ganged' into trying reflexology while meditating on the banks of the River Ganges in India back in 1995. What started off as a simple head massage turned into a foot treatment with the most amazing results and benefits.

I immediately left a high-flying job in London and began to train as a reflexologist within weeks of my return. I've never looked back.

In 2000, I pioneered Coronal Zone Reflex TherapyTM - a powerful but subtle form of reflexology that has been praised by both practitioners and patients for its immediate health benefits.

My first book Effective ReflexologyTM has been essential reading for all therapists interested in the feet. The companion volume - Effective Reflexology- the Way Forward swiftly followed. My latest work Don't Shoot The Messenger is due for imminent publication.

I am very excited at the prospect of returning to Ireland to work with the NRRI and will speaking about a subject very close to my heart - Interpreting the Language of Illness for Reflex Therapists. I will be sharing ideas, tips and strategies to help you the therapist in your interactions with those you work with.

The purpose of my presentation is to inform students how disease and illness have a deeper significance and provide vital information when taking case notes as a reflexologist. The further aim of the lecture is also to explore and discuss how we can interpret disease and predict patterns by looking at the language of illness. Rather than seeing disease as something to be fought or eradicated, I believe we should work alongside the inherent messages it contains, that are urging us to change our lifestyle and our consciousness.

I look forward to being back with you all at the 2020 Symposium.

"Aphorisms in Orthopedic Reflexology"

Spiros Dimitrakoulas is Greek Canadian, born in Montreal. His reflexology journey began in 1992 while learning and working next to a general physician in Athens who practiced Reflexology. Since 2005 he holds his own practice in Athens and since 2012 another also in the city of Argos. Since 2009 he teaches reflexology to students at Natural Health Science in Athens.

Spiros stimulated by the teachings of Hippocrates, Galen and other Greek physicians of antiquity, has developed Orthopedic Reflexology (OR) and teaches the method. The successful combination of, thorough anatomy knowledge and physiology, with Reflexology, presented him the opportunity to teach OR to physicians and physiotherapists in Turkey, and physiotherapists in Belgium not to mention fellow reflexologists around the world.

For many years he has been involved in the politics and the training standards of Reflexology by being a board member in various positions of his national association and chief editor of the association's magazine. He has also served as Chair on the board of the European Reflexology association RiEN.

He has been the major contributor of integrating Reflexology (for patients) into the Pain Management and Palliative Care Clinic of the university hospital Aretaieio where he offered reflexology. And the Oncologic Hospital "Marianna V. Vardinogianni" of the Children's Hospital "Aghia Sophia" (for caregivers) in Athens. He has also given lectures-workshops to physiotherapy and palliative congresses in Greece.

For ten continuous years he was the team leader of the volunteers offering Reflexology & massage at the Athens Authentic Marathon.

In 2012 he was the Reflexologist for the handball team Diomidis Argos, which won the Greek Championship and the European Cup where he refined and applied OR. During the 2013-14 championship it was requested of him to contribute again to the team's effort to win the championship, and they won it again. In both cases, medical expenses and absences, due to injuries, of athletes decreased noticeably. Ever since many high performance Greek teams and individual athletes from all kinds of sports take him on to offer reflexology.

He has also worked in a kindergarten teaching massage techniques as a remedy program to bullying. Recently in 2019 he offered reflexology training in a Greek prison to inmates with much success. He is currently waiting to begin with a new group of inmates and start working as a volunteer in the psychiatric department of Argos hospital.

His Reflexology interest and specialization is in pain, sports, and the elderly - centenarians.
