Course Outline:

This two day evidence-based workshop has been developed to help improve the knowledge base of reflexology practitioners who want to work clinically with clients who require support in managing their pain. The course includes pre-course learning materials and you are advised to book early to allow yourself time to learn or revise.

Day 1 will cover:

  • At least 50% of day one is practical including an introduction to nerve reflexology
  • Structure and function - the importance of the nervous system in reflexology
  • Pain - what is it and how is it perceived?
  • Outline of nociception (perception of physical pain)
  • Types of pain
  • Psychological, physiological and behavioural responses to pain
  • Pain assessment techniques
  • Pain measurement tools

Day 2 will cover:

  • Day two is mostly practical
  • Refresh techniques from day 1 plus more nerve reflexology points
  • Case studies - group work
  • The consultation process in pain management
  • Putting the treatment together
  • Working to combine nerve reflexology with other reflexology techniques

This workshop is based on my eight years of scientific research giving me the first PhD in the world on reflexology and pain management. It also introduces you to the well respected and researched techniques of nerve reflexology as taught by Nico Pauly of MNT-NR International.

These courses meet the requirements of the industry standards in terms of continuing professional development for qualified practitioners. ‘Supporting the client in pain with Reflexology' is accredited by the Association of Reflexologists for 24 CPD points per 2 day course and National Register of Reflexologists (Ireland) for 200 NRRI CPD credits.
