Marie T. Sheshelly_small_400lly is a founder member of the NRRI. As a member of the Board of Trustees she is very active in the governance of the Register. Her career as a teacher of reflexology dates back to when she founded the Irish Institute of Health & Healing with Maureen Connolly and continues to this day in her tireless activity as Principal of the Galway Institute of Wellbeing. Last year she started to faciliate an excellent CPD workshops in Emotional Reflexology. Marie Therese is also involved in the Doughiska Parent-Toddler Group in Galway, providing reflexology and promoting social integration.

"Facial Reflexology"

Marie-France Mmarie_france_muller_portraituller , M.D., N.D., has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology and has worked as a naturopathic doctor for more than 25 years. She gives workshops and lectures throughout Europe on different aspects of natural healing, including mineral therapy and Face Reflexology.

She has written 26 books published in French. In ‘Facial Reflexology', Marie-France Muller introduces this healing practice to the English-speaking world for the first time. Author presents the innovative Vietnamese method of Facial Reflexology - one of the simplest and most effective healthcare methods, provides rapid relief for many of these common ailments.

Developed in 1980 by Vietnamese doctors in Ho Chi Minh City as a less invasive alternative to facial acupuncture, facial reflexology uses healing principles based on the I Ching and Buddhist teachings. The therapy is simple enough that it can be self-administered by a beginner with immediate results and is also a valuable tool for healthcare professionals. Dr. Muller lives in France.

Dr Anne Matthews (PhD, Dublin City University)

Dr Anne anne_matthewsMatthews is working at DCU since 2001. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1990 and a Registered Midwife in 1992; graduated from University College Dublin with a first class honours B.Soc.Sc. in 1995 and with a M.Sc. (Econ.) in Social Policy and Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1996. She worked in the Department of Social Policy and Social Work in UCD, the Centre for Social Research of the University of Malawi, Central Africa and as Chief Officer for the Council for Children's Hospitals' Care until taking up a research position at DCU in July 2001 as Research Fellow, on a Research Project on Empowerment of nurses and midwives. Anne was a Lecturer in Nursing and Health Policy from February 2003- 2004 and since then she is a Lecturer in Nursing. She has a PhD from DCU in 2006; her thesis was entitled "Past and present perspectives on power and empowerment in midwifery in Ireland".

Research interests: Empowerment in midwifery; Health in developing countries; Systematic reviews of pregnancy childbirth interventions; the use of traditional medicines in pregnancy and childbirth; Social Policy, particularly Health Policy; nurse and midwife workforce planning.

"Reflexology in a Cancer/Palliative Care Enivornment"
by Claire O'Grady (MNRRI, Cancer Care West, )

This preseclaire_ogrady_emailed_400ntation is facilitated by Claire O'Grady, Reflexologist with Cancer Care West Support Centre & Inis Aoibhinn, University College Hospital, Galway. She is a complementary therapist and has been working as a Reflexologist with the Cancer Care West Support Centre since its opening in March 2007.
Claire has completed training in Ireland and the UK on cancer care and counseling skills, and has attended lectures on the emotional effects of cancer. In her work with Cancer Care West She has adapted a range of techniques that can be used safely for the benefit of patients. She works closely with oncology nurses and physiologists in order to support each patient on their cancer journey.

edgar_mocanu_portraitDr Edgar Mocanu qualified in 1993 from Cluj-Napoca Medical University, Romania. He trained in general Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and the Coombe Women's Hospital, St. James's Hospital, Rotunda Hospital and National Maternity Hospital in Ireland.
He holds a Certificate of Specialist Training (CST) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is registered in the Specialists Register of the Medical Council. He is Sub-Specialty trained in Reproductive Medicine and Surgery under the guidance of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists in London. His training was based at the Human Assisted Reproduction Ireland (HARI) Unit at Rotunda Hospital where he worked with Professor Robert F. Harrison.
As part of this training he also worked at the Mater Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, Tallaght Hospital and the Coombe Women's Hospital. His main interests are male and female infertility, the genetics of male infertility, ovulation induction, reproductive surgery and IVF/ICSI.
Dr. Mocanu was appointed as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to the Rotunda and Human Assisted Reproduction Ireland Unit in 2005. He runs an infertility clinic in the main Rotunda Hospital and at the HARI Unit. He is also in charge of the ART (IVF & ICSI) services at the HARI Unit. He is involved with the practical and theoretical teaching of students attached to the Rotunda Hospital.
